It took a little longer than originally expected, but we have finally purchased and brought home our new (to us) fifth wheel. We had heard before to keep an open mind when purchasing an RV. Now I see why!! We started off thinking we wanted a travel trailer with rear entertainment – and we ended up with a fifth wheel with a bunkhouse. After going back to square one, we started looking online for used fifth wheels. We had decided that for us the fifth wheel was the right option, we just needed to find a camper that would fit our wants/needs. It took a few days before we found this camper that was located at Bowling RVs in Ottumwa, IA. When we originally started looking at campers we were totally against ones that had a bunkhouse, we are just two people we don’t need an extra room for sleeping. However, we ended up really liking the idea of a bunkhouse – it will be perfect for the puppies to have their own little room.
Being crazy busy lately and with the camper being located out of the Des Moines metro – we spent a Saturday morning cruising down to check it out. Going in with an open mind was needed because we knew at this price range we were going to need to put a little sweat into the camper to make it ours.
We decided to put a down payment on the camper and headed back to Des Moines to help friends move – I’m telling you crazy busy. On Monday, we decided this was the camper for us and called the Tish back to let her know to move ahead with the finance portion. Bowling RVs doesn’t install hitches on the weekend, so we needed to schedule a time during the week to pick up the RV and have a hitch installed. The following week was the first time we could make a trip back to Ottumwa to pick it up. Unfortunately, we received a phone call the Saturday before we were supposed to pick up the camper and there was something wrong with the electrical. Luckily they were able to order and install a new part and the RV was ready to be picked up on Friday (Oct. 21) instead.
